We serve women!€” daughters, sisters, wives and mothers!€”who need structure and professional support in early recovery to build a solid basis for sustained sobriety.

The Women!€™s Home addresses the special needs of women, with a focus on lifestyle changes. By accepting boundaries and personal responsibility, residents put in place new attitudes and new ways of living, transforming their liabilities into assets. Residents learn tools to stay sober and how to !€œlive life on life!€™s terms.!€ It is one of the few such programs licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

We are based on a strategy of accountability to structure, accepting guidance from staff and cultivating healthy relationships with women, learning to ask for and accept help. Residents align themselves with successful women in the recovery community, who have sustained long-term sobriety. With this new-found resource, residents recognize where they are at risk of relapsing and maintain the motivation to change their behavior.

Hours:

Incoming residents commit to a minimum of 3 months and may stay a year or longer. Residents stay an average of 6 months. An average of 30 women live in the Home each year.

Intake Process:

The Women's Home serves women 18 years of age and older who want a life free of chemical dependency. The process of admission includes:

-Completing an application
-Providing information from the healthcare provider or referring treatment facility to confirm application information.
-Having an interview

Eligibility:

To be considered for admission, a potential resident must have been clean and sober for at least 30 days. Applicants are screened for stability and to determine that they are not detoxing or actively using drugs.

Referrals for admission are accepted from health care providers, therapists, family, AA/NA sponsors, treatment centers and others concerned. Self-referrals also are accepted.
