The Alleghany Highlands Free Clinic serves low-income residents of Alleghany County, Bath County, Covington and Clifton Forge. All patients do not have any health insurance. Patients qualify if their income is 200% or below of the Federal Poverty Level; however, 85% of our patients are below 125% of the Federal Poverty Level. Many patients are employed. Diabetes and hypertension are two conditions seen in most of our patients. The rate of occurrence of these conditions in our region is three times the state average.
