The mission of the Free Clinic of Central Virginia is to ensure high-quality, compassionate, and comprehensive healthcare for every member of our community. We fulfill this mission by providing high-quality medical, dental, pharmacy, behavioral health, and health education services to those in Central Virginia who do not have the resources to obtain these essential healthcare services.

Program Fees:
We serve adults who reside in Central Virginia, are uninsured or underinsured, and have income less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. Individuals are considered underinsured if their health insurance does not cover the medically necessary service they are requesting, or if there is a demonstrated community-wide lack of access to care.
Patients will not be denied medical, pharmacy, behavioral health, or basic dental services if they are unable to pay. We request that uninsured patients make a nominal donation. Patients with insurance are charged the required co-payment for services.
Eligibility:
Patients ideally should be working at least part time, or are temporarily unemployed and experiencing difficult or hardship circumstances. Patients eligible for the Free Clinic program in Bedford cannot have Social Security Insurance, Veterans Benefits, be enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, Disability, or have any health insurance and must meet the federal poverty level guidelines (up to 200%).

Description
We provide free basic dental services for adults by appointment only. Basic dental care is provided by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Howard University fourth-year dental students under the supervision of volunteer local dentists. Basic dental care includes restoration (fillings), extractions, x-rays, and examination. Dental hygiene services are provided by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) dental hygiene students under the supervision of volunteer local dentists.
Availability
We currently have an extensive waiting list for other dental services, including root canals and crowns. These services are provided only when specific grant funding is available, typically once per year.

If you are unable to afford important prescription medications, the Free Clinic of Central Virginia may be able to help.
Description
If your Free Clinic of Central Virginia healthcare provider determines that you need prescription medication to manage a health condition, he/she will write you a prescription which can be filled at our recommended pharmacy: Hill City Pharmacy at the Community Access Network 800 5th Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Lynchburg, VA 24504 Hill City Pharmacy and the Free Clinic of Central Virginia are often able to get prescriptions for Free Clinic of Central Virginia patients at low or no cost to the patient. Also, thanks to the support of our donors, the Free Clinic of Central Virginia spends $55,000 annually to purchase prescriptions for our patients.

To receive prescription assistance from the Free Clinic of Central Virginia, you must first be enrolled as a Free Clinic of Central Virginia patient with current income verification on file.
